This was my first venture into "Let's watercolor pictures that weren't drawn with watercoloring in mind", a doodle of Temeraire from Naomi Novik's wonderful series. First off, this was a quick, sloppy job, so it could have been twice as good if I'd taken a few more minutes with it and let it dry in between coloring the tips of his frill. I like this picture a lot more than the speedpaint I did a month or two ago.

Anyway, when I get all this school junk sorted out, I've been planning a little project where I draw my interpretation of the different dragon breeds (since there's so many--Regal Coppers and Fleur-De-Nuits are my favorites, but I like drawing Longwings the best.), showing different markings and sizes and stuff. It's such a brilliant series--a dragon riding series without sounding like a Pern ripoff. I've borrowed the first three books from a friend, but seeing as by the end of school I'll probably only have had time to finish Dune (which is also amazing), I'll buy my own copy of Empire of Ivory.

Also, I've been trying to dabble more in watercolors and inks, because they look so lovely.
